Absolute gravity station Nuuk
Absolute gravity stations in Greenland
Point in the basement of Nuuk Town Hall.
The absolute gravity stations are basis stations in the national gravity network of Greenland. These basis stations are the backbone in the densification of gravity measurements in an area used for geoid determination or exploration for natural resources.
The stations are also used for scientific research by repeated measuring at the stations. These repeated measurements can be used for studies of geodynamics in Greenland, e.g. the study of glacial isostatic adjustment in connection with the ongoing climatic changes.
